Modified Elvis Week 2020

ELVIS WEEK MODIFIED SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Below is our recently modified Elvis Week schedule that includes a series of daily screening events between August 8-16 at Graceland, in addition to a socially distanced Candlelight Vigil. 

All Elvis Week screenings below are pre-recorded content and include a blend of new panels featuring those who knew Elvis, new interviews with Elvis tribute artists, new content pieces from the Graceland Archives, and specially edited concert shows that look back on Best Of Elvis Weeks past, including the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest and concerts featuring Elvis’ bandmates and backup singers. Plus, on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, enjoy Elvis on the big screen with drive-in movies at Graceland! 

Attendance for all events will be capped to meet or exceed social distancing and max capacity guidelines. Seating at screenings is general admission and doors for the public open 50 minutes prior to start time.

For access to screenings, you must have an Elvis Week Day Pass for the coordinating day below. Elvis Week Day Passes are no longer available for purchase. Graceland guests with a Graceland tour ticket, can purchase a $10 Elvis Week screening upgrade to attend the screenings. Tickets available at the Graceland Ticket Office.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 8
Best of Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Moments

The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest has become a fan favorite event during Elvis Week. Watch a recap of the past 13 years of the contest and special “best of” moments that spotlight why fans love this annual competition.

2007 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Final Round

7:00 PM. Soundstage at Graceland, Elvis Presley’s Memphis.
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest made its debut at Elvis Week 2007 on the stage at the Cannon Center. This screening will take fans through the Final Round of the competition – from performances to the moment when the first-ever winner, Shawn Klush, was crowned. 


SUNDAY, AUGUST 9
Ultimate ETA Panel Hosted by Dean Z

Hosted by Dean Z, enjoy a series of fun new interviews with some of our past Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest winners – and find out what competing, Elvis and being an Elvis tribute artist means to them. 

2017 The Ultimate Return

Fans gathered in Memphis in 2017 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Elvis’ passing. Fans at the Graceland Soundstage were treated to an incredible show featuring 10 past winners of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. Re-live this special concert event featuring performances by Shawn Klush, Brandon Bennett, Bill Cherry, Justin Shandor, Cody Slaughter, Ben Portsmouth, Dean Z, Jay Dupuis, David Lee, and Dwight Icenhower.


MONDAY, AUGUST 10
Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Winning Performances

Elvis Presley Enterprises has now recognized 13 Elvis tribute artists as ‘Ultimate Winners’ since the launch of the contest. Re-live some of their performances during their Final Round of competition to see why they took home the title. Features performances by Shawn Klush, Brandon Bennett, Bill Cherry, Justin Shandor, Cody Slaughter, Ben Portsmouth, Dean Z, Jay Dupuis, David Lee, Dwight Icenhower, Gordon Hendricks, Ben Thompson and Taylor Rodriguez.

2018 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Weekend

Graceland’s first-ever Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Weekend took place on stage at The Guest House Theater in 2018. Enjoy a screening of performances by Cody Slaughter, Shawn Klush, Justin Shandor, Jay Dupuis, David Lee, and Dwight Icenhower as they take the Guest House stage. 


TUESDAY, AUGUST 11
The Elvis Legacy Project

10:00 AM. Soundstage at Graceland, Elvis Presley’s Memphis.
In 2009, Graceland launched the Elvis Legacy Project to capture interviews with friends, family members and individuals who worked with, met, or encountered Elvis Presley, in honor of his upcoming 75th Birthday. Enjoy a look back at some of these great memories and special moments. 

2016 An Afternoon with Elvis' Piano Man, Glen D. Hardin

7:00 PM. Soundstage at Graceland, Elvis Presley’s Memphis. 
A throwback to Elvis Week 2016, join us for a special event featuring TCB Band member Glen Hardin and musician Andy Childs as they share stories and music. Glen, who performed and played piano for Elvis from 1970 to 1976, has an incredible resume as a musician, songwriter and arranger - and was responsible for a large percentage of Elvis' orchestral arrangements, many of which he would stay up writing overnight because Elvis would decide he wanted to do a new song on a whim.

Hosted by Elvis Week host Tom Brown, enjoy newly-recorded interviews with Mother Dolores Hart, who co-starred with Elvis in “King Creole” and “Loving You”; Marlyn Mason, who co-starred with Elvis in "The Trouble with Girls"; Sam Thompson, Elvis’ bodyguard and the brother of Elvis’ girlfriend Linda Thompson; and Charles Stone, who worked closely with the Colonel on Elvis' tours and career; 

2012 Memphis Boys Salute Concert

Enjoy an incredible screening of our Memphis Boys Salute Concert from Elvis Week 2012. Singers Andy Childs and Terry Mike Jeffrey joined The Memphis Boys on stage for an incredible evening of music. The Memphis Boys were the legendary house band at the American Sound Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, between 1967 until it’s closing in 1972 - and this show covers music from all the amazing performers they backed, including Elvis Presley.Additional performers include the Holladay Sisters – Ginger Holladay and Mary Pederson, singer Drea Rhenee, and recording artist Scat Springs.

2012 Official Elvis Insiders Conference

During Elvis Week 2012, the Insiders enjoyed a conference featuring a wide array of Elvis guests. Enjoy interviews from the conference including stories and memories from DJ Fontana, Jerry Schilling, Egil "Bud" Krogh, Tom and Billie Perryman, Dixie Locke Emmons, June Juanico, Larry Geller, and Wanda Jackson.

Viva Las Vegas at the Graceland Drive-in

Enjoy an amazing evening of that "go-go" guy and that "bye-bye" gal in the fun capital of the world – with a socially-distanced drive-in screening of “Viva Las Vegas” at Graceland. Enjoy Elvis on the big screen with co-star Ann-Marget from your car as you listen over your car radio – or bring a portable radio and chairs to sit outside and enjoy the fun! Hosted by Elvis Week host Tom Brown, enjoy newly-recorded interviews with Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and TCB Band member James Burton; former member of The Stamps Quartet and Oak Ridge Boy Richard Sterban; bassist Norbert Putnam who recorded more than 120 songs in the studio with Elvis; and Larry Strickland, former member of The Stamps Quartet.

Elvis By the Presleys

10:00 AM. Soundstage at Graceland, Elvis Presley’s Memphis.
In 2005, the Elvis by the Presley's special aired on television featuring a collection of interviews Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley, plus interviews with Patsy Presley Geranen, and Priscilla's parents, Ann and Paul Beaulieu. This special also featured photographs from the Presley Estate archives and Presley family home movies. 

Memories from Candlelight Vigil

The annual Candlelight Vigil has always been the cornerstone of Elvis Week. In this special screening, enjoy memories from past Candlelight Vigils, including footage from opening ceremonies and processions, interviews with fans and celebrities, a look at amazing street art tributes, and more.  

Candlelight Vigil

9:00 PM – 12:00 AM. Gates of Graceland.
The Candlelight Vigil will be more limited than in past years, and will require free advanced reservations, but the longstanding tradition will carry on with a socially distanced fan procession to Meditation Garden. SUNDAY, AUGUST 16
2017 The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley Concert

Step back to Elvis Week 2017 and enjoy a very special evening at the Graceland Soundstage to celebrate the gospel music of Elvis Presley. Hear the music that not only influenced Elvis, but that also earned him his only three Grammy Awards – with performances by former members of JD Sumner and the Stamp Quartet Bill Baize, Donnie Sumner, Larry Strickland and Jeff Sumner; Terry Blackwood and The Imperials plus musician Terry Mike Jeffrey

Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii at the Graceland Drive-in

Close out the week with Elvis’ recording-breaking Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite concert that was broadcast live via satellite on January 14, 1973. Enjoy the show from your car as you listen over your car radio – or bring a portable radio and chairs to sit outside and enjoy the fun! The Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii screening is included with August 16 day pass purchases.  


MULTIPLE DATE EVENTS
FREE MORNING WALK-UP TIMES TO THE MEDITATION GARDEN

Elvis Week morning walk-ups will be from 7:30 am – 8:30 am on August 8-17. Masks and temperature checks will be required for guests participating in morning walk-ups, and guests will need to social distance and will not be allowed to sit in Meditation Garden. Guests must exit the mansion grounds before Graceland tours begin. Evening walk-ups will not be available during Elvis Week 2020.
