Remembering Elvis' Touring Partner, Jim Ed Brown

Jim Ed Brown of The Browns, who toured with Elvis Presley early in his career, died on Thursday, June 11.

The Browns, made up of Jim Ed and his sisters, Maxine and Bonnie, toured with Elvis on the Louisiana Hayride in 1955. Elvis later toured with The Browns as the trio's opening act. Elvis and The Browns became fast friends, and Elvis spent a lot of time with the Brown family.

The Browns topped the charts with hit singles like "The Three Bells," "I Heard the Bluebirds Sing," "Scarlet Ribbons (For Her Hair)" and "The Lamplighter." Brown also enjoyed a successful solo career.

Brown, a 52-year veteran of the Grand Ole Opry, is a 2015 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
