Remembering Bonnie Brown

Bonnie Brown of The Browns, who toured with Elvis Presley early in his career, died Saturday, July 16.

The Browns were a family band made up of siblings Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie, and the trio toured with Elvis on the Louisiana Hayride in 1955. Elvis served as the opening act for the band, too, and Elvis became close friends with the family.

The Browns joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1963 and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. The band topped the charts with hits like "The Three Bells," "Scarlet Ribbons (For Her Hair)," "Here Today and Gone Tomorrow" and "I Take the Chance."
