Dust off those blue suede shoes - the 2017 Parkes Elvis Festival is here! Australia’s largest celebration of the King of Rock 'n' Roll returns to the regional town of Parkes, NSW for a festive five days from Wednesday, January 11 - 15, 2017.
What started as a small get together between likeminded Elvis fans back in 1993 has today grown into an internationally renowned event endorsed by the estate of Elvis Presley. The festival turns 25 this year and will celebrate with a "Viva Las Vegas" theme, so get set for a neon lit bejeweled sin city spectacular!
The program is jam-packed with leading U.K. Elvis tribute artist Pete Storm and U.S. Elvis tribute artist Jake Rowley guest starring in a double-header 2017 Feature Concert Series. They will perform four high-octane shows, showcasing the best of the king.
The return of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will see top Elvis tribute artists battle it out in electrifying rounds for the chance to represent Parkes during the Semi Final round of the 2017 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, during Elvis Week next August.
The Elvis Express will roll its way from Sydney to Parkes with passengers enjoying onboard entertainment from a bevy of Elvis tribute artists. The 2017 Goodsell Machinery Miss Priscilla Dinner sees the sashing of the 2017 Miss Priscilla as the audience enjoys a two-course dinner and show.
Always a highlight of Parkes Elvis Festival, the Northparkes Mines Street Parade, with Elvis-themed floats, vintage cars and marching bands to boot.
There is the Busking Competition which draws in talented tribute artists who line the Festival Boulevard to serenade crowds and compete for the title of the 2017 Parkes Elvis Festival Best Busker.
The Cooke Parke Main Stage plays host to a range of free entertainment and competitions including the Junior and Senior Tribute to Elvis Competition, Look-a-Like Competitions and the McDonalds Rock ‘n’ Roll Dancing Competition.
“We always have an incredible pool of talented Festival-goers who love to get involved with the Festival on many different levels. There’s nothing we like more than seeing visitors getting out and joining in the fun of the Festival," said Festival Director Cathy Treasure.
The 2017 Parkes Elvis Festival features more than 120 free and ticketed events, shows, concerts and competitions.
