Dust off those blue suede shoes - the 2019 Parkes Elvis Festival is here! Australia’s largest celebration of the king returns to Parkes, New South Wales, Australia from Wednesday, January 9 – Sunday, January 14, 2019 - with more than 200 events across five fabulous, fun-filled days.
What started as a small get together between likeminded Elvis fans back in 1993 has today grown into an internationally renowned event endorsed by the estate of Elvis Presley. In 2019, the festival will celebrate its 27th year with the theme 'All Shook Up,' a nod to the iconic song and all things 1950s.
This year the program is jam-packed, with US Elvis Tribute Artist Ted Torres Martin headlining the 2019 Feature Concert Series.
The return of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will see top Elvis tribute artists battle it out in electrifying rounds for the chance to represent Parkes during the Semifinal round of the 2019 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis, Tennessee, during 'Elvis Week' next August.
Visitors can rock ‘n’ roll into Parkes via a number of fabulous transport options including the Blue Suede Express or Elvis Express trains, the Regional Hound Dog Express plane, or catch a return shuttle bus from Forbes, Peak Hill, Cowra and Orange.
The popular Goodsell Machinery Miss Priscilla Dinner celebrates the style and grace of Pricilla Presley with the sashing of the 2019 Miss Priscilla, as the audience enjoys a two-course dinner and show.
The Northparkes Mines Street Parade is the major annual highlight of the Parkes Elvis Festival. Enjoy Elvis-themed floats, Elvis and Priscilla look-a-likes, vintage and classic cars, motorcycles and marching bands as they make their way down the main street.
There are a ways festival-goers can get involved this year, including the Poet's Breakfast, Renewal of Vows, the Cooke Parke Main Stage competitions, as well as Rock 'n' Roll dancing lessons, ukulele workshops, Elvis yogalates, and a burlesque workshop.
“We always have an incredible pool of talented Festival-goers who love to get involved with the Festival on many different levels. There’s nothing we like more than seeing visitors getting out and joining in the fun of the Festival," said Festival Director Cathy Treasure.
