Fans See Elvis' First Acetate at Third Man Records

Fans lined up to celebrate Elvis Presley and to see his first recording at Third Man Records on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 18.

Musician Jack White, who purchased Elvis' first acetate at The Auction at Graceland in January 2015, put the acetate on display at his Third Man Records store in Nashville, Tennessee, on Record Store Day. It was displayed along with the original Rek-O-Kut direct-to-disc recorder, on loan from the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, that cut the acetate at Sam Phillips' Memphis Recording Service. Both artifacts were on display only for Record Store Day.

Fans also snapped up the facsimile copies of the acetate that Third Man released exclusively for Record Store Day. Third Man will release a widely available 7-inch 45 rpm featuring newly-restored versions of the two songs on the acetate later this year.

See photos of the acetate's display at the photo gallery.

If you want to see even more incredible Elvis artifacts, plan your visit to Elvis Presley's Graceland! Explore the home of the King of Rock 'n' Roll and see his automobiles, legendary jumpsuits, hundreds of gold records and much, much more.
