Elvis Week Day 3 - Good Rockin' Tonight

You work hard, you play harder.

The third day of Elvis Week began with a class at Elvis University: Elvis 101. The event featured a panel of Elvis experts discussing various points of Elvis' life and career. Commercial Appeal film critic John Beifuss talked about how Elvis' film career continues to garner him new fans, while Tupelo historian Roy Turner shared stories from Elvis' childhood and how the city continues to celebrate their hometown boy.

Elvis biographer Peter Guralnick talked about how he researched his books and the importance of storytelling, and producer/author Ernst Jorgensen shared the many ways he's tracked down details about Elvis' earliest music and live performances.

After such a studious morning, the rest of the day was full of rock 'n' roll. Dutch singer Bouke performed an Elvis tribute show at The Guest House at Graceland.

That night at the Soundstage, Memphis musicians paid homage to Elvis, Sun Studio and Memphis music at the Salute to Sun Concert. John Paul Keith, Brad Birkedahl, Will Tucker, Griffin Rone and Shawn Zorn rock 'n' rolled with special guests Ace Cannon, Sun Studio drummer J.M. Van Eaton and Jerry Phillips. John Paul Keith and Brad Birkedahl talked about the show and Memphis music on Facebook Live before they sent on stage - click here to watch the video.

No Elvis Week is complete without a tour of Graceland and the new exhibit complex, Elvis Presley's Memphis.
