Elvis Week Recap Day 1 - The Gold Standard

Elvis Week 2019 is off to a great start!

The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest Semifinal Round featured 17 of the world's best tribute artists battling it out for the title of Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist 2019. This year's contstants are from across the US and around the world - including Japan, New Zealand, Canada and Brazil.

The competition was fierce, with strong performances that covered Elvis' early career to his powerful Vegas era. Ten finalists were named and will compete in tonight's final round (which is now sold out!) - learn more here, and watch the finalist announcement here.

The Semifinalists had a blast at the meet 'n' greet with fans at The Guest House at Graceland earlier in the day. They posed for countless selfies and signed numerous autographs. After the contest, Elvis tribute artists - both past winners and finalists - jammed at the new Graceland Exhibition Center at Jeff Lewis' Ultimate Elvis Week after-party. Read all about it on Jon Waterhouse's Elvis Week blog!

Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist 2007 Shawn Klush gave a fun performance at The Guest House at Graceland Theater before the Semifinal Round. He sang the king's greatest hits, including "All Shook Up," "You Gave Me a Mountain" and "The Wonder of You," and even gave out a few cute teddy bears during "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear."

Tune in to the Graceland Podcast to hear an interview with Jennie Bradford Curlee of the Tuplo Convention and Visitors Bureau and Debbie Brangenberg of the Tupelo Elvis Festival.

Be sure to check out our Elvis Week Photo Gallery, which will grow as Elvis Week continues, and head on over to the Graceland Blog to keep up with Jon Waterhouse's daily Elvis Week blogs.
