Elvis' Childhood Bicycle Restored, On Display at Graceland

One of Elvis' prized possessions from childhood is now fully restored and on display at Graceland.

When Elvis was 11 years old, his father, Vernon, bought him a bicycle. Ever the sentimentalist, Elvis kept the bike for years, and the Presleys later stored it inside the Smokehouse at Graceland.

Recently, the Graceland Archives team researched the bike and determined it was, in fact, Elvis' childhood bike. Vernon likely purchased the Shapleigh Special 1946 Columbia bicycle for Elvis at Tupelo Hardware.

The bike, now fully restored, is on display inside the Trophy Building at Graceland, just in time for Elvis' 85th Birthday Celebration. The Trophy Building tells the story of the Presley family and includes the family Bible, a family tree, Elvis' high school diploma, Elvis and Priscilla's wedding attire, Elvis' police badge collection and more.
