Marlowes Ribs & Restaurant of Memphis is celebrating their 40th anniversary in Memphis, Tennessee. Marlowe’s was founded in 1974 by Tony and Lucy Gigliotti of Pittsburg, PA. Tony, Lucy and their three girls: Melissa, Marlo and Toni worked hard together, as the Whitehaven Ranch House and later Marlowe’s Ribs & Restaurant.
The massive draw of Marlowe’s customers are fans of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis Presley. Marlowe’s serves a diverse group of customers from international Elvis fans, movie stars, international entertainers and the wonderful people of Memphis and the surrounding area.
Initially, the food specialty was Italian recipes, sandwiches and salad bar. Later in 1989, BBQ was added to the menu and Marlowe’s was the first restaurant to put their smoker in the dining area of the restaurant. After much research, Tony targeted a Memphis-Style BBQ that uses cherry-wood for smoking. With this time and tempered formula, Marlowe’s became the “Best BBQ in Memphis.”
Marlowe’s has been competing in the World famous Memphis in May BBQ cooking competition since 1995 and has always ranked in the “Top 10” out of 300 contestants in the event.
“Marlowe’s Ribs & Restaurants cooks and prepares their foods on a judge’s scale, to ensure a quality, long lasting tasteful experience for their customers,” says owner Melissa Gigliotti-Coleman, known as Missy.
Marlowe’s staff is comprised of family and goal oriented people, with less than a 5% turnover in the past 40 years. Marlowe’s provides their customers with a well-lit parking area, family or group oriented environment, friendly staff and a “Free Pink Limo Ride” from our fleet of Cadillac’s.
Tony has now retired and turned the reins over to his daughter Missy. She and her husband Michael Coleman, II, have taken Marlowe’s to the next phase with their standing core ethics and morals. Tony and Lucy now run the very famous Marlowe’s Gift Shop inside the restaurant and receive orders for Elvis memorabilia, signed books from friends of the king and the ever famous Marlowe’s sauce and rub. Fans can get their own Marlowe's goodies by visiting MarlowesGiftShop.com.
Join Marlowe's for some delicious southern treats and celebrate 40 years of serving the “World Famous, Award Winning BBQ!” Elvis fans can learn more by visiting MarlowesMemphis.com.
