BuzzFeed.com Features "21 Unbelievable Candid Photographs of Elvis Presley in the Army"

Popular site BuzzFeed recently paid homage to the king's military service. Fans can now check out 21 photos of Elvis' time in the United States Army by visiting BuzzFeed.com.

On March 24, 1958, Elvis, joined by his family and friends, reported to the Memphis draft board. He was then inducted into the U.S. Army and assigned serial number 53310761. Elvis served in the Army until March of 1960 where he went through many life changes, including losing his mother Gladys Presley in August of 1958 and meeting his future wife Priscilla Beaulieu.

Elvis joined the Army during the height of his career and many doubted his continued success once he arrived back in the United States. Elvis returned to star in over 33 films, broke records with his "'68 Special" and "Aloha From Hawaii Via Satellite" television specials and later broke attendance records in Las Vegas, in addition to performing to sold-out crowds across the country. Let's just say, he proved them wrong.
