Celebrate at the Las Vegas Elvis Fest

July 08, 2014

The name change of the LVH to the Westgate Resort and Casino made news last week but to Elvis fans the hotel on Paradise Avenue will forever be the Las Vegas home to Elvis Presley no matter what name is on the building.

For the fifth year running, Elvis fans will flock to the LV landmark to celebrate the music and life of its most famous headliner Elvis Presley, at the annual Las Vegas Elvis Fest hosted by long time associates and friends of Presley, Joe Esposito and Jerry Schilling. Other special guests appearing include friends and co-stars as well as many of Elvis' own musicians and singers.

This Friday’s Heart of the King Awards Ceremony and Concert is an opportunity to give something back to Elvis tribute performers and producers and say thank you to people involved in the Elvis world for their years of hard work and entertainment. It will also be a chance for award recipients: Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Dean Z, Award winning Elvis Tribute Artist Ted Torres, and newcomer Travis Powell to showcase their talents during the concert portion of the show. DJ Fontana, Elvis original drummer and Rock N Roll Hall of Famer will also be honored. Past recipients, Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artists Cody Ray Slaughter and Ben Portsmouth will headline the concert.

The highlight of the festival will also feature an epic Saturday night concert on July 12th starring Ultimate Elvis tribute Artist and the BBC’s ‘World’s Greatest Elvis’ Shawn Klush performing “That’s the Way It Was,” a musical celebration of Elvis’ years in Vegas, performing in the same showroom where Elvis made history. Joining Shawn will be members of Elvis' own Stamps Quartet, his Sweet Inspirations and comedian, Sammy Shore who all shared the stage with Elvis in Las Vegas.

The event will also host Las Vegas’ only official Ultimate Tribute Artist Contest preliminary for Elvis Presley Enterprises annual contest to be held in Memphis next month. Thirty Elvis tribute artists will compete for the chance to represent Las Vegas in Memphis.

The Festival and concert are licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises but produced exclusively by Las Vegas Elvis Fest, LLC.
